Session 1: Gaza Tribunal report and the conflicts in the Middle East | 10:30am - 12pm
Chair: Jeremy Corbyn is the founder of Peace & Justice Project, Parliamentary Leader of Your Party and former leader of the UK Labour Party from (2015-2020). He has served as a Member of British Parliament in Islington North for 40 years and is a Parliamentary Member of the Council of Europe. His expansive and lifelong campaigning for peace, justice and human rights has taken him across the world, advocating in senior roles for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition, UN Human Rights Council in New York (review of the Geneva Convention), nuclear non-proliferation, trade unions, employment rights, Indigenous rights and many social movements. He has twice been awarded prizes for promoting peace, including the Seán MacBride Peace Prize for his sustained political work for disarmament and peace.
After teaching for seventeen years at Ben-Gurion University in Israel, Professor Neve Gordon joined the School of Law at Queen Mary University of London. Gordon is the author of Israel’s Occupation (2008) and co-author of The Human Right to Dominate (2015), and Human Shields: A History of People in the Line of Fire (2020) and is a Fellow of the British Academy of Social Sciences.
Dr. Shahd Hammouri is a Lecturer in International Law and Legal Theory from the Levant region. She is the author of the forthcoming book Corporate War Profiteering and International Law (Cambridge University Press, 2025). Dr. Hammouri is also a Non-Resident Fellow at Al-Haq for Applied International Law and a Senior Legal Consultant at Law for Palestine. Her work examines the intersection of public and international economic law from a critical and decolonial perspective.
Omar Barghouti is a Palestinian human rights defender, a co-founder of the Palestinian- led BDS movement for Palestinian rights, and a co-recipient of the 2017 Gandhi Peace Award. He holds Electrical Engineering degrees from Columbia University, NY, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Philosophy (Ethics) at the University of Amsterdam. He is the author of BDS: The Global Struggle for Palestinian Rights (Haymarket: 2011). His commentaries and interviews have appeared in many mainstream media outlets.
Dr Victoria Rose is a British consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in London. Since 2019 she has undertaken several humanitarian missions to Gaza, most recently working at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis during the 2024-25 genocide. There she treated large numbers of patients with blast and burn injuries, including children, in conditions of extreme shortage of equipment and supplies.
Session 2: How to defend sovereignty in Latin America | 12:15pm - 1:45pm
Chair: Claudia Turbet-Delof is a Bolivian-Londoner, feminist, socialist, former councillor and community organiser committed to peace, justice and Latin American sovereignty. As a member of the Wiphalas Across the World, she campaigns against imperialism and foreign intervention, defending equitable access to land and respect for Indigenous peoples, their territories and self-determination. Her internationalist work connects struggles across Latin America and the UK, defending human rights, migrant and workers’ rights, public services, sovereignty and self-determination.
Óscar Guardiola-Rivera is an award-winning writer and poet. He's the author of the critically acclaimed 'What If Latin America Ruled the World' (Bloomsbury, 2010) and, recently, 'Under the World' (The 87 Press, 2023) and 'A Hopeful Political Imagination' (Bloomsbury, 2025). He teaches law and philosophy at Birkbeck College, University of London.
Carlos Rafael Rodriguez has been working as First Secretary at the Cuban Embassy in the United Kingdom since May 2023.He served as Third Secretary at the Cuban Embassy in Argentina between 2013 and 2016. He has successfully completed official missions in the Foreign Service at Cuban embassies in Washington in 2013, Argentina in 2018 and Venezuela in 2019.
Dr Francisco Dominguez was Head of the Research Group on Latin America at Middlesex University, London, UK. He has written extensively about contemporary Latin American affairs. He is co-author and co-editor of "Right-Wing Politics in the New Latin America." Dr Dominguez is a former political refugee from Pinochet’s Chile who has been active on Latin American issues in the UK. He is also National Secretary of the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign in the UK.
Dr Marcus De Matos is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Brunel University of London. He is a board member of the Association of Brazilian Students and Academics in the UK (ABEP-UK) and an Honorary Member of the Institute for Brazilian Lawyers (IAB). He is the co-author of the award-winning book "Imagens da América Latina: mídia, cultura e direitos humanos," with Dr Priscila Vieira-Souza.
Nardi Suxo is a Bolivian lawyer and sociologist. She served as the ambassador of Bolivia to Austria, Croatia, Hungary, and Slovakia from June to November 2019.
Session 3: How can we prevent the arms industry from destroying our planet? | 2:30pm - 4pm
Chair: Angela Sherwood is a Lecturer in Climate Justice at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and Co-Director of the QMUL Centre for Climate Crime and Climate Justice.
Abby Martin is the founder and host of The Empire Files, an investigative documentary series that became a primary resource for understanding U.S. imperialism. In 2019, she released her debut feature film, Gaza Fights for Freedom, which has been described as a definitive “crash course” on Palestine. She is currently on a director’s tour for two new films: Cuba After Castro, which details the U.S. blockade on Cuba through the first-ever interview between Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and an American journalist, and Earth’s Greatest Enemy, about the role of the U.S. military in the global climate crisis and its staggering environmental destruction.
Matthew Kennard is a British investigative journalist and author. He is co-founder and former head of investigations at Declassified UK, an outlet dedicated to in-depth reporting on British foreign policy and the military-security establishment. He is also the author of Irregular Army and The Racket, works examining global militarism and corporate power.
Tim Crosland is a human rights lawyer, who provided legal support to small island states at COP21, the climate talks which culminated in the Paris Agreement. He helped set up the climate justice charity, Plan B, to hold the British government to account for its failure to act on the Paris Agreement through legal action. Tim is the co-founder of Defend Our Juries, which takes collective action in solidarity with those on the front line of resistance to genocide and ecocide, leading to more than 3,600 arrests under the Terrorism Act since July 2025.
David Whyte is the Director of the Centre for Climate Crime and Climate Justice at Queen Mary University of London. David teaches modules on ‘Climate Justice’ and ‘Researching Powerful Organisations. His current research focuses on legal responses to climate change, corporate accountability for climate change and climate justice in the workplace.
Session 4: How can we create independent media to uncover the truth? | 4:15pm - 5:45pm

Nika Soon-Shiong is the publisher of Drop Site News. She founded the Fund for Guaranteed Income, which implemented UBI programs across 15 states and 14 federal prisons. Prior to that, she worked for the President of the World Bank Group. She is currently a producer on three feature documentaries. Nika serves on the boards of Equal Education, the Compton Development Corporation and is the board chair of One Fair Wage. She holds a PhD from the University of Oxford, where her research focused on biometric surveillance in India. She received an MA in African Studies and a BA in International Relations from Stanford University.
Justin Schlosberg is an academic, activist and author with a background as a touring rock musician. He is currently Professor of Media and Communication at the University of Westminster, former Chair of the Media Reform Coalition and Edmund J Safra Network Fellow at Harvard University. He has written extensively about media power and democracy and provided oral evidence and advice to governments around the world. His research has been the subject of headline news stories on various independent and mainstream platforms including the BBC.

Mary Nazzal-Batayneh is a barrister, activist and Co-Chair of the European Legal Support Center (ELSC). Based in Jordan, her work spans law, media and advocacy for justice and Palestinian rights. She hosts Raw Politik, a political show created to challenge legacy media narratives. A social entrepreneur named one of Forbes’ Most Powerful Arab Women, her work also explores building impact-driven, decolonised economies. Her TEDx talk, Liberation: Inside and Out, explores personal and collective liberation.
Richard Sanders is a multi-award winning film-maker, journalist and author. He has made over 50 films for British terrestrial TV, focussing primarily on history and news and current affairs. His films have appeared mainly on Channel 4, including more than 20 Dispatches. In recent years he has worked for Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit, where he made the highly acclaimed October 7 and GAZA, the latter shortlisted for a Royal Television Society Award. Prior to working in television he was a print and radio journalist in Venezuela and Colombia. He is the author of two history books.
