Session 1: War & Building Peace

Chair: Jeremy Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn MP, founder and director of PJP (Peace & Justice Project), is a twice elected leader of the UK Labour Party from 2015 to 2020. He has served as a Member of British Parliament in Islington North for 40 years and is a Parliamentary Member of the Council of Europe. His expansive and lifelong campaigning for peace, justice and human rights has taken him across the world, advocating in senior roles for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the Palestinian Solidarity Committee, Stop the War, the UN Human Rights Council in New York (review of the Geneva Convention), nuclear non-proliferation, trade unions, employment rights, Indigenous rights and many social movements. Corbyn has twice been awarded prizes for promoting peace, including the Seán MacBride Peace Prize for his sustained and powerful political work for disarmament and peace. He founded the Peace & Justice Project in 2020.

Francesca Albanese

Francesca Albanese is the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. Her work as Special Rapporteur has been marked by courageous and principled advocacy against apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Mairéad Farrell

Mairéad Farrell is the Teachta Dála (TD) for the Galway West constituency. representative for Galway West. As Sinn Féin’s Spokesperson for Public Expenditure and Reform, she champions policies that prioritise people over profit. Mairéad Farrell she is committed to climate justice, social equity and a united Ireland.

Ilan Pappé

Ilan Pappé is a prominent Israeli historian and Professor of History at the University of Exeter. His book The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine (2006) argues that the displacement of over 700,000 Palestinians in 1948 was not a spontaneous consequence of war but a premeditated strategy of ethnic cleansing, a claim supported by declassified Israeli military archives. He has authored numerous other influential works, including Ten Myths About Israel, The Idea of Israel, and A History of Modern Palestine, all of which critically examine the historical narratives surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Dr. Shahd Hammouri

Dr. Shahd Hammouri is a Lecturer in International Law and Legal Theory from the Levant region. She is the author of the forthcoming book Corporate War Profiteering and International Law (Cambridge University Press, 2025). Dr. Hammouri is also a Non-Resident Fellow at Al-Haq for Applied International Law and a Senior Legal Consultant at Law for Palestine.

Session 2: Economics for the Many

Chair: Carolina Alves

Carolina Alves is an Associate Professor of Economics at UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose and Fellow in Economics at Girton College, Cambridge. Her research focuses on Critical Macro-Finance, Structuralist Macroeconomics, Decolonisation of Economics, and Heterodox Economics Theory. She is the author of Labour, Value and Capitalism: A Study of Karl Marx’s Poverty of Philosophy (1847) and co-author of Decolonising Economics: An Introduction.

Dr. Ndongo Samba Sylla

Dr. Ndongo Samba Sylla is an economist and Africa Region Director for Research and Policy at the International Development Economics Associates (IDEAs). He is a recognised expert in development economics, monetary sovereignty and the political economy of the Global South. He previously worked as a technical advisor to the Presidency of the Republic of Senegal and has held a senior research and programme management role at the West Africa office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation for over a decade.

Stephanie A Kelton

Stephanie Kelton is Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Stony Brook University and author of the New York Times bestseller The Deficit Myth. She was Chief Economist on the U.S. Senate Budget Committee (Democratic staff) and Senior Economic Advisor to the Bernie Sanders 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns.

Sara Nelson

Sara Nelson is the President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), AFL-CIO, the world’s largest flight attendant union, representing over 55,000 aviation workers across 20 airlines. She is a powerful advocate for workers' rights, safety and social justice. She participated in Senator Bernie Sanders’ ‘Fighting Oligarchy’ tour fighting for labour solidarity and workers playing a key role in challenging economic inequality and corporate power.

Daniel Kostzer

Daniel Kostzer is the Chief Economist at the International Trade Union Confederation, based in Brussels (ITUC-CSI). His earlier positions include Senior Economic Advisor at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Myanmar country office, Head of the Socio-Economic Unit at United Nations Integrated Mission (UNMIT) in Timor-Leste and Director of Research and Macroeconomic Coordination at the Argentine Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security.

Session 3: Climate Justice & Human Rights campaigns

Chair: Linda Pentz Gunter

Linda Pentz Gunter is an environmental activist and journalist who founded the international advocacy non-profit Beyond Nuclear in 2007, serving as its international specialist and media and development director. She is a prominent voice in the anti-nuclear movement, focusing on organising and collaboration within the global network of anti-nuclear groups, with particular attention to the United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan.

Jason Hickel

Jason Hickel is Professor at the Institute for Environmental Science & Technology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His research focuses on political economy, inequality, and ecological economics. He is the author of The Divide: A Brief Guide to Global Inequality and its Solutions, and Less is More: How Degrowth Will Save the World.

David Whyte

David Whyte is Professor of Climate Justice at Queen Mary University of London, where he is also the Director of the Centre for Climate Crime and Climate Justice. His research focuses on the relationship between law and corporate power, particularly examining how corporations contribute to environmental harm and climate change. He is the author of the influential book Ecocide: Kill the Corporation Before It Kills Us (Manchester University Press, 2020).

Mohammed Usrof

Mohammed Usrof is a Palestinian researcher, climate justice advocate and political strategist from Khan Yunis, Gaza, recognised for his impactful work on environmental governance, decolonisation and social justice. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Palestinian Institute for Climate Strategy (PICS), which challenges fossil-fuel imperialism, corporate greenwashing and the exclusion of frontline communities from global climate decision-making.

Danièle Obono

Danièle Obono is a member of the national coordination of La France Insoumise and has been a Member of Parliament for Paris since 2017. She is President of the study group "Racism and Racial and Religious Discrimination" and a member of the Committee on Laws and European Affairs at the National Assembly.

Session 4: Media, Data & Solutions

Chair James Schneider

James Schneider is a political organiser, writer and Communications Director for Progressive International. He was on the communications team for Jeremy Corbyn during his Labour Party leadership. He is the author of "Our Bloc: How We Win”.

Peter Alan Oborne

Peter Oborne is a distinguished British journalist, author and political commentator. He served as the chief political commentator for the Daily Telegraph, resigning in 2015, citing ethical concerns over the paper's relationship with advertisers, which he believed compromised its journalistic independence. He is particularly recognised for his work on Channel 4’s Dispatches and his award-winning books, including "The Rise of Political Lying" and "Basil D’Oliveira, Cricket and Conspiracy: The Untold Story".

Amy Goodman

Amy Goodman is the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on over 1,400 public television and radio stations worldwide. She is the first journalist to receive the Right Livelihood Award, widely known as the 'Alternative Nobel Prize' for “developing an innovative model of truly independent grassroots political journalism that brings to millions of people the alternative voices that are often excluded by the mainstream media.”

Ashira Darwish

Ashira Darwish is a Palestinian trauma therapist, journalist, and creator of Ashira Active Meditation. She leads healing workshops worldwide, blending indigenous somatic therapy, Sufi wisdom, and resistance. Her work centres on collective liberation, ancestral resilience, and decolonizing trauma healing.

Emre Kazim

Emre has an extensive background in AI governance and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in collaboration with government and industry leaders. Emre is a senior honorary research fellow at University College London’s computer science department, where he completed his post-docs. Emre holds an MSci in Chemistry and, MA, and Ph.D. in Philosophy.
